Memorias de ultratumba is an autobiography of François-René de Chateaubriand in 42 volumes published in 1848. Although the work has features that bring it closer to the literary genre of 'memories' (in the classic meaning of the term, such as the 'Memories of Saint- Simon'), the 'Memories of Ultratumba' are also inspired by the Confessions of Rousseau, in the sense that Chateaubriand (in addition to the political and historical events it attends) deals with details of his private life and his personal aspirations.
