Synopsis
The novel covers a 34-year period of the 14th century, between 1327 and 1361, almost at the end of the Middle Ages and is mainly set in the fictional city of Kingsbridge in the southwest of England. It shows the importance of wool manufacturing and trade first and after the cloth in the development of Europe and especially England.
