Enemies at Home
Original title: Enemies at Home
Synopsis
In ancient Rome, the number of slaves was much higher than that of free citizens and often the Romans felt real fear of "enemies at home," the servants who lived under their own roof. To appease his fear, the government enacted a law agreeing that if a Roman was killed at home and the culprit was not quickly discovered, his slaves - all of them, responsible or not - would be charged and sentenced to death. No exceptions.
