Farewell to arms
Original title: Farewell to arms
Synopsis
It tells a love story between the young and idealistic soldier named Frederick Henry with Nurse Catherine Barkley in First World War Italy.
The novel is mostly autobiographical. Ernest Hemingway really was a volunteer ambulance driver in the Italian army, was injured in the legs and met a nurse with whom she lived a similar love story. This allowed him to use his memories to create a crude and realistic military account.
