Cardboard castles

Original title: Castillos de cartón
Not started 2004 Fiction Spanish 331 pp.

Synopsis

The novel begins when the protagonists are already adults. María José Sánchez works as an art taster in a Madrid auction house. One day he received a call from a former partner and lover, Jaime González, announcing that his common friend, the famous painter Molina Schulz, had committed suicide. But this is not the important thing about the novel, the news returns the narrator to her time as a student of Fine Arts, specifically 1984-1985, the time of the move. Through a love triangle, Almudena tries to transmit the geist or spirit of those years. They were flashes of intense, true happiness, which only ended up overshadowing the jealousy of lovers and the unjust negotiation with the talent of the three artist apprentices.
