New Mexican playwright and playwright who achieved great popular success with his satire, three of which have been translated into English: The Dead, Two Crimes and The Lightning of August. In 1955, Ibargüengoitia received a Rockefeller scholarship to study in New York; five years later it was awarded the Mexico City Literary Prize.
Jorge Ibargüengoitia's masterpiece is the extraordinary recreation of a real case that shocked Mexico in the 1960s, when several bodies of prostitutes appeared in different properties of the two madame, owners of three brothels. The dead are built from various testimonies, voices that gather to shape a unique literary universe.
